Song of the Week: Charly Bliss, “Young Enough”

Welcome to Song of the Week. This weekly series highlights what's been on repeat rotation for me, and I'm all about sharing what's spinning in my head and out in the world. It's an opportunity for a throwback, a signal boost to a new release, a single premiere, or just a chance to swap tunes.

One of the bands that's been buzzing through 2019 is Charly Bliss, and I'm obsessed with their single "Young Enough” from their self-titled sophomore record.

The high impact toms, the fluttering energy, and upbeat energy has just fed into my love for this song. The layered synths are so enticing and really make it a standout in the pop fluctuations of indie rock.

Sonically, this new wave track slays. But lyrically is where Charly Bliss smashes. I keep coming back to these feelings of hope and growth past previous needs and pains. It’s a danceable ache that makes for catharsis. It’s intentionally raw and honest look at adolescence and facing the heartache of it, and that makes for one unforgettable song.
